In October of 2021, I had the privilege of attending a Tuscan Wine Tour at Casa Emma with one of my best friends, Hannah.
We were lucky enough to receive a private tour from Hospitality Manager, Alessio Benincasa, and he showed us around the entire property and gave us a wonderful tasting! It was one of the best wine tours in Tuscany that I had ever experienced.
Special thank you to IC Bellagio for setting this tour up for us!
Milan to Florence
We started our morning in beautiful Milan, where we were based for the trip. We took a speed train from Milano Centrale Train Station to Florence Santa Maria Novella. From Florence, we rented a car and drove south to Casa Emma on our way to Siena.
Florence to Casa Emma
We rented our car from the Avis Car Rental in the city. This was my second time renting from this specific car rental and I would highly recommend them!
We were initially planning on relying on public transport, trains, busses, etc., but we are so glad that our connections in Italy told us to rent a car! At the end of the day, we spent less renting a car (by a lot) than we would have spent paying for a driver or an organized day tour.
The drive from Florence to Casa Emma is so easy and quick! It was about a 40 minute drive and we had no issue finding the winery at all.
Casa Emma – The Tour & Tasting
Driving through the property in itself was completely picturesque. It’s exactly what you picture when you think of the rolling hills of Tuscany.
Upon our arrival at Casa Emma, we were greeted by Alessio and his team. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming! Alessio began showing us around the winery and describing their fermentation process while we took in the fantastic smells of the fresh wine.
Entrance to the Casa Emma Tasting Room Terracotta Wine
Casa Emma is famous for its Chianti. Casa Emma also produces olive oil, terracotta wine, grape flour, cosmetics from grape skin, and more!
After our walking tour of the property, we sat down for a wine tasting. Alessio was nice enough to give us a wine tasting inside of their wonderful tasting room with a stunning view that overlooks the winery. There were a few other groups having tastings at the same time as us but it was still very quiet due to the fact that we were there during the off season in October.
I highly recommend visiting Tuscany during this time of year and booking this Tuscan wine tour with Casa Emma.
Casa Emma Property
The property at Casa Emma is quintessentially Tuscan. Everything was authentic. Even the tile on the tables was from a local tile worker.
Casa Emma Values
We were very impressed by the values at Casa Emma as well. Environmental sustainability of at the core of their entire production process. They use organic and biodynamic principles to produce all of their wines and oils. Even the skins from the grapes are recycled to make a grape flour, as well as cosmetics.
Outdoor Tasting Area Fermentation Area of the Winery
I highly recommend visiting Casa Emma if you are planning to visit Tuscany! Alessio and his team are some of the most welcoming people that we encountered on our trip and the property is beyond stunning.
If you’re driving yourself or if you’re travelling with a driver, Casa Emma can easily be added to your itinerary. Book your tour with Casa Emma here!
Until Next Time!
